Viennese Shortbread


20 cookies


1 cup margarine or butter, room temperature
1/2 cup confectioners’ (powdered) sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
French Silk Filling


Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until creamy. Stir in flour and baking powder. Fill cookie press with dough. Using the medium star plate on cookie press, form 3" strips of dough on ungreased cookie sheet, or use a flower plate to press flowers.

Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are light brown. Cool 2 minutes on cooling grid. Remove cookies from cookie sheet and continue to cool on grid. Put cookies together in pairs with French Silk Filling.
