Classic Spritz Cookies


7-8 dozen cookies


1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder


Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, vanilla, and almond extract to cream mixture. Beat well. Combine together flour and baking powder. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, mixing to make a smooth dough. Do not chill.

Fit a cookie press with the desired template and fill with dough. Press out cookies 1" apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 2 minutes on cooling grid. Remove from cookie sheet and continue to cool on grid.
