Buttery Snowflake Cookies
1 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange zest
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and cream cheese. Add sugar and egg yolk. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract and orange zest. Gradually add dry ingredients. Beat on low speed until blended. Fit a cookie press with the desired template and fill with dough. Press out cookies 1" apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on the peaks and the bottoms. Cool 2 minutes on cooling grid. Remove cookies from cookie sheet and continue to cool on grid.
