Butter Cookies


1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine, room temperature
4 ounces cream cheese
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour


Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, cream butter and cream cheese. Add sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix well. Add half the flour. Mix until blended. Add remaining flour, mix by hand. Add a more flour if necessary. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough 1/4-inch thick. Using lightly floured cutters, cut out cookies and place on cookie sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 2 minutes and remove from cookie sheet. Continue to cool on cooling grid.
