Deep Dish Brownies


16 brownies


3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 large eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt


Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8" x 8" baking pan using Pan Release.

In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time with spoon. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to egg mixture, beating until well blended. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.

Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan or until a toothpick inserted halfway between the edge and center comes out clean. Do not overbake. Center should be set (slightly sticky) but not dry. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.


Stir 1 cup peanut butter chips, dark chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips into batter before spreading batter in pan.
